Unto the great and honorable populace of the Barony of Loch Salann do We Raven and Sajah send warmest greetings.
As we see the year of two thousand and twenty come to an end and the year two thousand and twenty-one draws anigh we are excited about what this new year has in store for us.
We are so very excited to walk forward into this new year of SCA history with you. Sajah and I have been serving in the Barony of Loch Salann and the Kingdom of Artemisia for some small about of time and have seen a few things come and go. We are not surprised that we as a kingdom are renown for our efforts to continue to carry the flame of inspiration and joy the the SCA brings into out lives, but we are very impressed and it is by the efforts both large and small, of everyone that will ensure that this dream that we each have our own part in will continue to weather the storm.
As you may know by the Board of Directors suspended all in person meetings until the end of March 2021 to help keep the Known World save from the ravages of Covid 19. We have been in consultation with Their Majesties, Our Good Cousins, and the Seneschals to keep an active event lineup, for the time being Events have been moved into virtual spaces and if you haven’t had a chance to attend one, We urge you to give it a try. It might feel a little bit awkward at first, but We think it feels a lot like sitting around the campfire at an event listening to stories and other talk from those who have joined us there.
As the pandemic continues to force us to be apart please remember that although we are going through this together, we are not experiencing this the same way. We may not all be in the same boat, but we are in the same storm. Transitioning to working from home with minimal disruptions has come more easily to some than others, some of us live alone and have lost the comfort of in person contact, some of us are still going into work daily and some of us have lost our jobs. The most important thing is to be patient with one another and accept that what is good for one person is not good for another. Please be kind to each other. Please check in on your friends, especially those you know are alone. Take care of your mental health as well as your physical health.
We look forward to seeing our populace online at the Upcoming Bronzehelm Baronial Investiture on the 9th of January, at the Virtual 12th night bardic event sponsored by Gryphon’s lair on the 16th of January as well as the queens prize on January 23rd. We as a Kingdom are continuing to try out new ways to have more interactive courts and activities during virtual events. Please be patient as we try new ideas. Some things will work, some won’t and remember good things happen in court.

A gentle reminder to all officers, reports are due to the Seneschal and your Kingdom counterpart on the first of the month and your presence is expected at the monthly forum/populace meeting on the 2nd Wednesday of every month. It was discussed at the last forum that officers submit a quarterly article for the Questing Quill. Tell the Barony what your office requires, highlight an unknown facet of your job, or share a little bit about yourself. Make the Chronicler’s job easier by giving him content for the Quill. The populace is also invited to send in articles for the Quill. Tell us why you joined the SCA. Tell us what fantastic research rabbit hole you’ve dove into. Pictures are welcome as well.
