Unto the populace of the Barony of Loch Salann do Hoggar and Bronwyn send greetings.
When plague hits the land followed almost immediately by the earth shaking time stops for a moment so we can all catch our breath. We hope that everyone is healthy and hasn’t suffered any lasting damage from the earthquake and subsequent aftershocks. Please continue to stay at home as much as possible, distance yourself at least 6’ from others when you must be out in public, and of course wash your hands. We will get through this together.
There are so many amazing classes, hangouts, and virtual gatherings available on Zoom, Discord, and Social Media platforms. We have both taken a few classes already and encourage everyone to find a class or discussion group to participate in. It’s a lot of fun. A huge thank you to those who have organized and taught classes and set up hang outs, your service is greatly appreciated by us all.
Even though we can’t see each other right now the business of the Barony must continue. Populace meeting will be held on April 14th. It will be held using Go To Meeting. The Facebook event announcement has already been posted to the FB group page with all the pertinent information.
There are still several officers whose warrants are expired or expiring; these include Chronicler, Webminister, Archer General, and Exchequer. Kingdom officer positions are also available if those peak your interest. The SCA as a whole runs on volunteers, please consider helping the Society we love by offering your time and service. If you wish to take up a Baronial office please send a letter of Intent to the officer, the Seneschal, and The Baron and Baroness. As was announced at Defender’s Tournament, We will not be extending our tenure and Our warrant expires at Solstice Court this year. Letters of intent for Baron and Baroness are still due by April 18th. These letters must be sent to Their Majesties, Their Highnesses, the Kingdom Seneschal, the Baronial Seneschal, and The Baron and Baroness; email addresses can be found on the Kingdom and Baronial web pages. Covid-19 may be forcing us all to slow down but some business has been set in motion and cannot be halted. As of this writing We have not received any letters of intent. If you are interested in what it takes to serve the Barony as Baron/Baroness please contact us. We’ll gladly answer any questions you may have.
We are still looking forward to Melee Madness on June 6th at the Castle in Provo; as long as the plague subsides and we can gather in large groups again. We will know more about the situation closer to time.
Baron’s War will be held on July 18th and 19th, information will be posted as soon as the Kingdom approves the event and again as long as we are allowed to gather together. May this cursed plague end soon.
