LochNight Announcement

Greetings Good Populace of Loch Salann!

Their Excellencies of Loch Salann would like to invite you all to a night out in the park, in person.

The Loch Salann Baronial Night Out, or LochNight, will be:
Tuesday April 20th at Veterans Memorial Park (1985 W 7800 S, West Jordan, UT 84088), from 7 to 9 PM.

They would like to encourage; fighters wishing to practice, anyone interested in teaching classes, anyone looking to hold guild meetings and of course everyone wishing to socialize, to join us for our first official in-person activity of the year.

**NOTE** no one is required to attend- that includes officers. If you are not comfortable, and you are an officer, we can find others to participate, if necessary, in your stead until you are ready.

Now is the perfect time to change our perspective on our weekly gathering at the park. Traditionally, it’s been called fighter practice, but it can be so much more. Personally, I want to be able to see my friends at least once a week! LochNight is the perfect place to do that.

On that note, we need to address a couple items.

  1. We still need to follow city, county, and state ordinances. As of right now (03/12/2021), we should gather in groups of no more than 25. If this is still the case when we start doing official gatherings at the park, we will be in individual groups: i.e. artisans will be at least 20ft from the heavy fighters, heavy fighters will be at least 20ft from the Rapier fighters, etc.  If we maintain these distances and are respectful, we’ll be fine and transition into the season with ease.
  1. Transitioning from virtual (or no) activities to in person activities is going to be different for everyone. Some people are going to be more cautious and concerned than others. Built tension based on differing opinions could cause a lot of problems. Please keep in mind that everyone is entitled to play at a level in which they are comfortable. Please do not disparage people for wanting to wear a mask, staying away from others, or not showing up because they don’t feel safe. On the flip side of that, please don’t try to police the populace. We have marshals and officials that will make decisions based on the overall group. We will talk privately with individuals if issues arise. If someone isn’t wearing a mask at the park and that makes you uncomfortable, stay away from that person. Our environment is in flux right now. Be friendly, be kind, be understanding.

We have a ways to go before things go “back to normal” but I have no doubt that our barony can make the transition easily and safely.

If you have any questions, please talk to me, the knight marshal, Their Excellencies Raven and Sajah, or any of the baronial officers.

As always, YIS

Vigdis
