Solstice Court – 2016

The summer crops have been laid away and preparations have been made; the longest night is nigh at hand. It is time to gather and celebrate before the long cold winter settles in. Come one, come all, and join us, the Barony of Loch Salann, as we share warmth, food, and laughter at our Solstice court, December 10, 2016.

Sing songs, tell tales, bring poetry to share, to delight and inspire. Participate in the cribbage or the chess tournaments. This time of year, as the outside turns dark and gray, we find comfort and joy in making our interior spaces beautiful as a reminder that winter does not last forever and in fact, the Solstice is a renewal. Bring your decorations and help make the hall beautiful.

And let’s not forget the youth! Lady Ariana has activities planned to keep the kids entertained and help get their creative juices flowing. A visit from Father Christmas could even be in order for well-behaved boys and girls!

A soup fundraiser lunch will happen, more info to come.

This year we will be hosting a silent auction fundraiser to benefit our youth program and our archery program. This will be a basket auction. We are asking people to donate items, large or small, for our auction. This could be done as an individual or as a household!

So you may be asking yourself, “What would be good to donate?” Well! It could be anything really! Are you a scribe? Perhaps you could put a basket together with scribal materials. This could be done as an individual or perhaps the scribal guild could go in together. Are you a blacksmith? Well well! People LOVE things like tent stakes and portable holes! Do you LOVE to do tablet or Inkle weaving but don’t know what to do with all the piles of trim you have built? Put it in a basket! Do you collect mugs and other feast gear? Is it perhaps time to let some go? Put a set of feast gear in a basket! The possibilities are endless!

Please contact Aingeal (Angela Stephens) with any questions you have or to let her know what you would be willing to donate. We hope to see many many wonderful baskets!

Feast will be provided by HE Sheelaegh, more info to come. Feast reservations are available online here!
