Needleworkers Guild Update – April 2016

Greetings,

Following is the report for the April 6, 2016 meeting of the Barony of Loch Salann Needleworkers Guild.

Another evening of stitchery has come and gone. I was suffering from or rather enjoying, a shopaholic moment a few days before this meeting, and as a result each of the ladies in attendance was gifted (for one reason or another) with a pair Sullivan Heirloom Embroidery Scissors. I’m not sure why, I just thought they were kind of pretty.  They are extremely sharp with nice fine points for getting into small intricate places.  Finger holes, that won’t cut off the circulation while cutting in those small intricate places.  And again, they were just kind of pretty.  Every once in a while, a skilled laborer of this kind just needs a special something’ that they can use.  If you didn’t make it, sorry you missed out on this one.

Speaking of skilled laborers, the ladies of the guild have been very busy.

Kudos to the lovely lady Luveday, who was the first to turn in a completed hanky.  She has even accepted assignment of another.  In between working on the hankies, she continues to embroider the medallions for her Russian Tunic.

Also joining in on this labor of love (for largesse) are Donna Aurora, Mistress Bronwyn , lady Michelle from Gryphons Lair, and even the lovely temptress Lady Vadoma currently working from the far reaches of the East Kingdom.  I can’t thank these fine ladies enough for setting aside their own personal projects to assist in this endeavor.  Looking forward to having them completed and submitted to our fair Baroness in the fairly near future.

Lady Michelle was kind enough to share a pattern for an embroidered coif.  Not that it has anything at all to do with my persona, but I for one am looking forward to making this (after I finish current projects).  And yes Jennet, I did manage to obtain an extra copy for you.  Thanks Michelle.

Michelle also has a largesse project in progress for Grypon’s Lair- Hardanger cup covers.  If you have ever wanted to learn this fun and addictive technique, now is the time.  I’m sure she would love to have your help.  I just learned this embroidery style, so am very excited to join in.  I hear that the lovely Baroness Jennet is also working on a largesse project of Hardanger bookmarks.  Both projects are a great way to get your feet wet in this technique without having a huge amount of skill under your belt or extreme time commitment.  If there is interest in a basic Hardanger class, let me know and I’ll see what can be worked out.
