Barons Words – September 2017

Unto the Most Ancient Barony of Loch Salann do We, Æylwin and Amanda, send greetings!

With the coming of September, We are reminded of the scholastic pursuits of the great populace of Loch Salann and call you all to share with us your learning. We are also also minded to call on one and all to support one last adventure in the campaign season at Harvest War. Come share with your passion for the Dream!

This month takes us, once more, around the great lands of Artemisia, from the far reaches of Stan Wyrm for Coronation, to Cote du Ciel, to the Gryphon’s Lair, and, of course, here in our favorite lands of Loch Salann! To kick start the month, please join us for the trip of a lifetime to bear witness to our very own Timmur and Tiana as they ascend, once more to the Gryphon Thrones! Then, we rest a while here in the Loch, attending our weekly fighter and archery practices and attending to business of the Barony. The weekend of the 15th, we travel to Cote du Ciel for Harvest War. Join us on the field and in camp for fun, revelry, and shenanigans! Finally, to wrap up the month, we have a Household Activity, sponsored by House Hold Tyte: A Dragon Hunt! Join us here in Draper on the 30th to hunt these majestic beasts as we anticipate the groaning of our feast tables with the grand feast! Bring many newcomers and your bows, arrows, knives, axes, and javelins to help bring down the great beasts!

Please note that as daylight hours grow shorter and the nip of cold comes to the air, we will be moving indoors for both fighter and archery practice, starting soon. Say tuned for more details. Also stay tuned for a new fighter practice location. We will still be at the Viridian centre, but once a month, so we are changing to a location in Cottonwood Heights on Friday nights. More details soon to be announced! Archery will once again move to Salt Lake Archery, near the campus of Westminster college in Sugarhouse. See our websites for further details.

We are currently looking for a Youth Minister, Youth Combat Marshal, Thrown Weapons Marshal, and a Chatelaine. Also, many offices seek deputies, such as the Deputies of the Chatelaine: Demo Coordinator, Head of Public Relations, and more. We simply cannot accomplish all of the work that keeps the Barony afloat without your help! We are seeking individuals willing to train as Marshals in Training for heavy, light, thrown weapons, and archery in order to make the running of events and practices easier for all! So please come and learn more about how the Barony operates by serving one of these vital roles! It’s a perfect way to make new friends and help plan for the success of us all!

Stay Medieval, my friends! Have a great month!
