Barons Words – September 2016

Unto the Most Ancient Barony of Loch Salann do We, Æylwin and Amanda, send greetings!

With the coming of September, We are reminded of the scholastic pursuits of the great populace of Loch Salann and call you all to share with us your learning. We are also are also minded to call on one and all to support one last adventure in the campaign season at Harvest War. Come share with us your story; your passion for the Dream!

This month takes us, once more, around the great lands of Artemisia, from the far reaches of Silver Keep for Coronation, to Cote du Ciel, and, of course, here in our favorite lands of Loch Salann! To kick start the month, please join us for the trip of a lifetime to bear witness to our very own Loclan and Vigdis as they ascend to the Gryphon Thrones! Then, we rest a while here in the Loch, attending our weekly fighter and archery practices and attending to business of the Barony. The weekend of the 16th, we travel to Cote du Ciel for Harvest War. Join us on the field and in camp for fun, revelry, and shenanigans! Then, as the month of September slinks its way out the door and welcomes in October, we will bear witness to the grand Crown Tournament, right here in our very own lands: The Viridian Centre in West Jordan! Come support the pageantry and bear witness to some of the best tournaments in the Known Worlde!

Please note that as daylight hours grow shorter and the nip of cold comes to the air, we will be moving indoors for both fighter and archery practice, starting the week of the 19th. The Viridian Centre is kind enough to host us each week for fighter practice in trade for classes! Same as last year, please volunteer to teach classes to share your wisdom and skills! Archery will once again move to Salt Lake Archery, near the campus of Westminster college in Sugarhouse. See our websites for further details.

We are currently looking for a Youth Combat Marshal and a Thrown Weapons Marshal, while many offices seek deputies, such as the Deputies of the Chatelaine and Deputy Chancellor of the Exchequer, and we are seeking individuals willing to train as Marshals in Training for heavy, light, thrown weapons, and archery in order to make the running of events and practices easier for all! One last plug for service, we need event stewards for all coming events, especially putting in bids for Kingdom level events. We will partner you up with an experienced autocrat so you can learn from their experience and make the task more manageable. So please come and learn more about how the Barony operates by serving one of these vital roles! It’s a perfect way to make new friends and help plan for the success of us all!

Stay Medieval, my friends! Have a great month!
