Barons Words – December 2016

Unto the Most Ancient Barony of Loch Salann do We, Æylwin and Amanda, send greetings!

The falling snows bring great joy to my heart and remind of time spent with family and friends, building snowmen and having snowball fights. May the joy of the winter season be upon you as well, keeping your hearth and home warm and may you make time to go outside and play!

December brings with it many great opportunities to revel, play in the snow, and the ability to share The Dream with all around us. The month starts off of the 3rd with Zoo Lights! Join us at the Hogle Zoo on Saturday evening to advertise the joy of The Dream, sharing our skills with all passers by. There will be fighting, both armored and rapier, the blacksmiths guild and more will join us, so please come lend your support! Bring your Arts and Sciences projects and display items and wear some warm garb! Then, on the 10th, we shall celebrate with all of the populace of the greatest barony in the lands! Solstice will be fabulous fun, so come and share with us your joy and learn to play some new games and learn a few new dances!  HG Timmur and HL Germaine will be co-event stewards! The event site is at Prophet Elias Church located at South Highland Drive, Holladay, Utah. This year our feast steward is HE Sheelaegh! Please come ready to play games, dance, and revel with the best populous in the Kingdom! We are so excited to share the joy of the season with you and We hope to spend time getting to know each of your better! Click here for more information!

Please note that we are now indoors for both fighter’s and archery practice. See our website and Facebook threads for more details, including classes to be taught at Fighter Practice. The Viridian Centre is kind enough to host us each week for fighter practice in trade for classes! Same as last year, please volunteer to teach classes to share your wisdom and skills! Archery is at Salt Lake Archery. Join us for these and guild meetings throughout the month to hone your skills and learn new things!

We are currently looking for a Youth Officer Deputy and a Youth Combat Marshal, while many offices seek deputies, such as the Deputies of the Chatelaine and Deputy Chancellor of the Exchequer, and we are seeking individuals willing to train as Marshals in Training for heavy, light, thrown weapons, and archery in order to make the running of events and practices easier for all! Thank you to all who have stepped up and continue to volunteer to be event stewards/ autocrats and let us know how best to support you!

May your hearth be always warm and your hospitality warmer!
