Unto the Most Ancient Barony of Loch Salann do We, Æylwin and Amanda, send greetings!
Spring is upon us! (Now tell that to the frost-bearing nights!) As April springs upon us I am reminded of the ever-changing world around us and how we, as a Barony, shall pull closer together and celebrate one another’s efforts in The Dream. Share with us all aspects of your dream, from service and the arts to the camaraderie of the field of honor, and everything in between! We are very proud to call each and every one of you ours! We are truly inspired and humbled by the vast skills and talents you show the whole kingdom! Keep up the great work and show all who may see and hear what it means to be from Loch Salann!
With the coming of April, we shall have the opportunity to attend the Feast of Saint Pyre in the Shire of Cote de Ciel, Hyrum UT, on the 8th. Then bear witness to the new Heirs of our great Kingdom, so please attend the XLIst Crown Tournament, hosted by The Shire of Bronzehelmin Billings, Montana, on the 15th. Then we are travelling this year to our very first Honor War in Clarkston, Washinton to visit our great neighbors to the north, Avacal and to the Northwest, An Tir.So, be it close to home or far abroad, please, come one, come all to celebrate with us these amazing events and continue to build camaraderie and fond memories!
As a follow up to these formal events, We ask the great members of the Loch to help us in creating more local opportunities to share the Dream within our very own boundaries. We are putting out a call to all households to sponsor a local activity, so those newer to the SCA may revel and grow with us without the expense and travel of these distant events, and also the remind us of days gone by with games and revelry from the early days of the Barony and Kingdom. We ask all heads of household to contact us this month to share ideas and begin planning the monthly calendars to provide year-round activities to grow the Barony and celebrate with one another on a smaller, more intimate scale.
We are planning a workshop to make/ collect the gear for our Youth Combatants so we may once again host the Youth Defenders tournaments at Melee Madness. Please contact Æylwin and Amanda to help plan a date for this workshop. We wish to have at least four complete sets of loaner gear so the children may play (field hockey helmets, leather gorgets, shields, etc.)! If you have any gear from years gone by, please check with us to ensure it meets the new Society standards, as published in 2016. Together we can re-kindle the flame of our youth and continue to grow the Barony!
Officers needed: We are currently looking for a Youth Combat Marshal, while many offices seek deputies, so please come and learn more about how the Barony operates by serving in this role! It’s a perfect way to make new friends and help plan for the success of us all!
