Baronial Forum Report – March 2017

PART I: Populace Meeting

There are two parts to this report. Part 1 is a summary of what was discussed at the Populace Meeting. Part 2 will follow as a summary of the Baronial Forum.

1. Discussion focused on whether or not Baron’s War should become a Kingdom event. Some of the issues include having only two events within the boundaries of BLS, having too many events kingdom-wide in August, the financial health of the Barony, the financial health of the Kingdom and the challenges of having events in July because of two holidays. In summary, the recommendation is we keep Baron’s War, investigate having it in July in ID, develop a new camping event within the geographic boundaries of the Barony and support the Kingdom in developing a kingdom-wide camping event.

2. Fighter Practice in winter 2017. Possibilities are being checked out. A fee may have to be charged of fighters to cover the costs. We will continue with FP in the park at Viridian Center for the summer. We will reserve the Veridian for one Tuesday a month. The fighters will have to decide which Tuesday that will be. Anyone wishing to have further input about this issue should speak with the Knight Marshall and the Rapier Marshall.C

3. Communication with the Populace is a priority for the Barony. Besides these posts to Loch-Salann.Org and the unofficial Baronial Facebook page, other options were discussed.
1. Post a white board near the Exchequer booth at events to briefly list the most important issues/needs.
2. Use surveys via the web.
3. Create both actual and “virtual” suggestion boxes.
4. Create FaceBook event pages for Populace Meeting and similar items.

Reality Check: Timeliness of communication is critical. I know this post is almost two weeks late. I could REALLY use help implementing these ideas. Anyone with some time and social media savvy who would like to assist should contact me as [email protected]. You can volunteer to help with just one problem/issue or for more.

Yours in Service,

Luveday de Salford – Seneschal
