Knight Marshall:
Fighter practice continues to be held at our Winter site at Viridian Event Center, 8030 S 1825 W West Jordan, UT 84088. Five practices were held, a total of 84 heavy fighters attending. Of those, 15 were new people. Valka Lakhandottir will be stepping up as Knight Marshall at Defender’s Tournament, March 4, 2017. Rapier:
Five official practices were held in January. A total of 88 rapier fighters attended, with 10 new people among those. One authorization was given. ALERT: SEE UPDATE BELOW FOR FURTHER INFORMATION REGARDING FIGHTER PRACTICE IN FALL/WINTER 2017/18.
Archery:
Practice continues to be held from 6 to 8 every Thursday at Salt Lake Archery in Sugarhouse, 1130 Wilmington Ave. Approximately five to ten “stick flingers” have been in attendance each time.
Updates on ongoing Baronial Business:
- ALERT: As reported last month, starting next fall (2017), we will no longer be able to reserve the Viridian Center every Tuesday for Fighter Practice as we have in the past. We will be able to have the space only one Tuesday a month. So, we will be needing a new winter Fighter Practice site. Several ideas have been submitted, however more options are needed. Please continue to give your ideas for a new location to the Knight Marshall, [email protected]. The intent is for practice to continue to be held on Tuesday evenings.
- Concurrent with Fighter Practice, classes continue to be held that will help individuals meet the criteria for joining the Order of the Flower of Chivalry. See the Files section of the Barony of Loch Salann Facebook page for details.
- We continue to seek a List Minister, Youth Officer Deputy who will step up to the Youth Officer position, and a Youth Combat Marshall.
- POPULACE MEETING: March 15th at 7pm, in the dungeon of Holdtyte Castle, demesne of Their Excellencies, Sir Robert and Sir Leah de Spencer, 2359 East Cavalier Drive (7305 South), Cottonwood Heights, Utah 84121. Please bring nibbles to share.
Updates on Events and Demos in the Planning Stages:
- Reminder: Defender’s Tournament has been moved to Sugar Space, in Salt Lake City. See BLS website for more information.
- Populace Polling will be held at Defender’s regarding the extension of Their Excellencies’ tenure on the Baronial Thrones. Polling will also be done at the two subsequent Fighter Practices in March as well.

Any member of the populace is welcome to attend the monthly Forum, which is held at 7 pm on the second Wednesday of the month, at Their Excellencies, 13575 S 1300 E, Draper. Next Forum will be March 8, 2017.
